Last updated on December 7, 2020

The University of Maryland announced Saturday evening that there are now two more community members who have tested positive for coronavirus.

One of the individuals to test positive is a part-time contractor employed with Maryland Athletics and the University Health Center, according to an campus-wide email sent by Sacared Bodison, the interim director of the University Health Center.

University officials learned of the contractor’s case late last night and notified those who came into contact with the individual and provided them with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The other individual is a student who was studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain, making their case the second confirmed case among students. This individual returned to their home away from campus, the email read.

Those who may have been exposed to the virus have been advised to self-quarantine for two weeks and to remain vigilant of any symptoms like, fever, cough or difficulty breathing.
